Two ways to report your child's absence:
- By telephone 253-3671
- Write a note & bring to office
It is important that students be on time so they hear all the important announcements and directions for their day. The first bell rings at 8:00 a.m. and the final bell at 8:05 a.m. Students arriving after 8:05 a.m. should be walked to the office to receive a late slip. Students are asked not to arrive at school before 8:00 a.m. unless eating breakfast in the cafeteria (7:30 a.m.-7:55 a.m.) because there is no supervision before that time.
Students are not to be waiting in the halls or playground without a caregiver.
.
Students are to come directly to school and go directly home. There is no supervision provided after school unless your child is formally enrolled in an after-school class or in NVUSD Child Care on site.
Early Arrival at School
Students arriving at school before 7:55 a.m. should go to the multi-use room/cafeteria (open from 7:30 a.m.-7:55 a.m.) where there is supervision for breakfast.
At 7:55, students should line up on the appropriate playground for morning walk time. Classroom teachers will pick students up from their playgrounds
at 8:05, with the exception of TK and K students who will stay in the cafeteria until the bell rings.
It is the responsibility of the parent to supervise students who arrive before 7:55 a.m. if they are not in the multi use room.
Students are expected to go directly home after school. PLEASE be on time; late pickups are frightening for children. Students will not be detained more than 10 minutes after school without you being notified. If a student gets a ride home and has not been picked up within 15 minutes after dismissal, they need to report to the office to make a phone call.
There is NO staff supervision on the campus after school – parents are expected to supervise their own children.
Adults picking up students must be on the student's Emergency Card and listed that they have permission to pick up your student from school.
Students walking to school should walk on the sidewalk and cross streets at marked crossings and intersections where possible.
Students are to come directly to school and go directly home. Playing on the playgrounds after school is not allowed unless you are a part of the child care program. There is no supervision provided after school unless your child is formally enrolled in an after-school class or in the NVUSD Child Care on site.
According to state law and board policy, all parents and visitors must check in at the office when on campus during school hours. Check in involves coming to the office to sign our “visitor sign-in” binder and putting on a name tag.
We all must comply with this rule as school staff will require this of all visitors. This policy ensures the safety of our students and Alta Heights will enforce rules that keep our students safe.
